RoadMaster

General cargo & groupage

Small shipments in the right goods flow.

Groupage consolidates smaller shipments from multiple senders. Collection, transshipment and delivery form a shared transport chain. Robust packaging and clear identification are particularly important.

Scope of service

When this service is suitable

For individual pallets, crates and other packages suitable for transshipment. Bulky, particularly sensitive or time-critical goods require separate assessment and may need a direct journey.

Your planning advantages

  • Send smaller shipments without a dedicated vehicle.
  • Consolidated carriage on coordinated transport routes.
  • Plan additional services at the receiving point in advance.

Process

How your order is handled

Prepare for dispatch

Goods are packed securely for transport and clearly assigned to the recipient. Pallet overhang, loose parts and non-stackable packages must be declared.

Consolidate and transport

After collection, the shipment enters the planned goods flow. Packaging and ease of handling are crucial during transshipment.

Prepare for receipt

Opening hours, access and unloading equipment are clarified in advance. Any required telephone notification is agreed as an additional service.

RoadMaster

Vehicles & equipment

Different vehicles may be used for collection and delivery. Where no loading bay or forklift is available, we assess a suitable tail-lift solution, including weight and size limits.

Suitable additional services

  • Delivery pre-advice
  • Tail lift and pallet truck subject to assessment
  • Agreed scheduling options
  • Proof of delivery

Additional services are agreed in advance and priced according to their scope. We confirm availability, suitability and timing for the specific shipment.

TRANSPORT PLANNING EXAMPLE

Two pallets for a specialist retailer

A retailer receives two pallets of packaged goods but has no forklift. We assess package weight, access and a firm unloading surface and plan an appropriate delivery with a tail lift.

Illustrative planning example; not a scheduled route or a transit-time commitment.

Questions & answers

Frequently asked questions about this service

Are general cargo and groupage the same thing?

General cargo refers to individual transportable packages. Groupage describes the consolidated carriage of several shipments. The terms are often used together in freight forwarding.

Will the goods be carried inside the building?

Carrying goods inside is not automatically a standard service. If needed, access, weight and two-person handling are agreed separately in advance.

Can unpackaged goods be carried?

This needs individual assessment. Suitable protective packaging is essential for transshipment; sensitive individual items may require another transport solution.
