Part load

Several pallets. Planned together.

A part load uses part of a vehicle's capacity. Your shipment is combined with other suitable freight. This is an option for larger pallet quantities that do not require a dedicated truck.

Scope of service

When this service is suitable

For planned deliveries between smaller groupage shipments and full truck loads. A realistic delivery window, suitable packaging and compatibility with other cargo are especially important.

Your planning advantages

  • Capacity matched to the size of your shipment.
  • Sharing load space can reduce costs.
  • Recurring quantities can be incorporated into coordinated processes.

Process

How your order is handled

Assess load-space requirements

We consider actual external dimensions, loading metres, weight and stackability. Overhang and bulky packages change the space required.

Combine shipments

Route, cargo compatibility and time windows determine the combination. We clarify in advance whether a direct part-load movement or a process involving transshipment is suitable.

Coordinate arrival

The dispatch team coordinates receiving with the route. Required pre-advice, delivery references and unloading aids are included in the order.

Vehicles & equipment

Curtainsiders, box-body or refrigerated vehicles are planned according to the goods. Combined carriage requires compatible temperature, hygiene and load-securing conditions.

Suitable additional services

  • Pre-advice to the recipient
  • Tail lift subject to vehicle assessment
  • Agreed pallet exchange
  • Temperature-controlled part loads

Additional services are agreed in advance and priced according to their scope. We confirm availability, suitability and timing for the specific shipment.

TRANSPORT PLANNING EXAMPLE

Ten pallets with a planned delivery window

A manufacturer sends ten pallets to a wholesaler. We assess a combination with suitable freight and consider the wholesaler's receiving hours. A narrow fixed time window requires a separate feasibility check.

Illustrative planning example; not a scheduled route or a transit-time commitment.

Questions & answers

Frequently asked questions about this service

How many pallets make a part load worthwhile?

There is no single threshold suitable for every shipment. Route, volume, weight and timing together determine whether groupage, part load or full load is appropriate.

Does a part load always travel without transshipment?

No. The agreed route may involve a direct part-load movement or transshipment. If transshipment must be excluded, this must be agreed before placing the order.

Can I agree a fixed delivery date?

Yes, following a route and capacity assessment. A tight deadline can affect possible freight combinations and the price.
